6.2 Reflection
Candidates regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Blog
My blog "Techin' and Teachin'" was created at the beginning of my Master's program in Instructional Technology. It is has been updated throughout my completion of the program. The purpose of my blog was to reflect on my experiences as an Instructional Technology graduate student. Throughout my blog, I specifically reflected on professional readings, assignments, field experiences, and even my general state of mind at the time. The collection of posts shows my growth as a technology facilitator as I am completing the program. I created my blog through Blogger and it has been updated at least once every semester.
My blog demonstrates mastery of Standard 6.2 because, throughout the Instructional Technology program, I have regularly posted evaluations and reflections on my professional experiences as a graduate student. I've used these reflections and experiences to strengthen my ability as a technology leader and facilitator at my school. The blog in itself has provided a technology-enhanced learning experience as it was my first time creating a blog.
By completing my blog, I have learned the value of reflection through an important experience. As I read back through my blog, I realize how much I've learned in the past two years. I'm able to apply my prior experiences to my current and future endeavors. I'm also able to use my prior experience to help others in their own journeys to implement technology in their classroom. To improve the quality of this artifact, I wish I would have blogged more diligently throughout my graduate program. I posted blog entries frequently through my first year, but my posts were less frequent in my last few semesters. I think it would have been valuable to include as many experiences in my blog as possible.
My blog impacts faculty development because it allowed me to grow as a technology facilitator. My personal growth as an educator not only benefits myself, but it could have the potential to benefit my colleagues and my students. Also, I was able to apply my own experiences and help other teachers implement technology. Because of my growth as a teacher and a technology leader, my blog also impacted student learning. The impact of my blog could be assessed by comparing my classroom experiences before the blog with my classroom experiences during the blog to determine how my reflections influenced my instruction.
